What you described about Indian Jones, I feel for Rocky Balboa. The 6th one did not need to be made. The 5th one was perfect. Stallone in a lot of his interviews said that the 5th one was terrible but I felt it made perfect sense- that a man who’d worked hard his entire life would find himself penniless but still found it the fight in him. 6th one didn’t make sense. Why does Rocky Balboa own a restaurant! I’ve seen it a few times, trying to like it, but I don’t…
So funny that we talked about Rocky and Indiana Jones in the same week! 😄 I think it’s so interesting to hear from different perspectives because different stories will make sense to different people in different ways. Thank you for sharing yours!
This post pretty much sums up my feelings on what made Indiana Jones so awesome as a kid, and how sad it made me to see him dragged under the wheels of ideological-driven entertainment. So much so that I wrote about it too.
Absolutely. Of all the cinematic icons we have, Indy is the one I relate to the most because while he has adventures, he has this geeky, bookish side to him. And it does hurt to see him get the treatment he got in the last two movies.

Connect with emotion rather than plot.

Stories are so very personal, and it hurts when ones we love are not done well.
